MANILA – The Philippines’ Imelda Schweighart bowed out early in the race for the Miss Earth 2016 title, failing to land a place in the Top 16 of the pageant’s ongoing coronation night, ending hopes for a historic three-peat for her country.

The 21-year-old Schweighart, a college student and aspiring actress from Puerto Princesa City, was looking to succeed both Angelia Ong and Jamie Herrel, who won the crown in 2015 and 2014, respectively. She did not make it past the first cut, however.

These are the countries that made it to the Top 16:

Colombia, Michelle Gomez
South Korea, Chae-Yeung Lee
Northern Ireland, Julieann McStravick
Italy, Denise Frigo
Venezuela, Stephanie De Zorzi
England, Luissa Burton
Brazil, Bruna Zanardo
Vietnam, Nguyen Thi Le Nam Em
Russia, Alexandra Cherepanova
Mexico, Itzel Paola Astudillo
Macau, Clover Zhu
South Africa, Nozipho Magagula
Ecuador, Katherine Espín
Australia, Lyndl Kean
Sweden, Cloie Skarne
United States, Corrin Stellakis

Despite Schweighart’s early elimination, the Philippines still remains as the country with the most number of wins in the Manila-based pageant’s 16-year history, having won it in 2008 as well.
